|1-talking through his arse
by Mammoth/Syndicate
Last week after the Ipswich V Millwall game at Portman Road Millwall
were relegated to Division 2 and their "fans" went mad, ripped up seats
and threw them at Ipswich fans, there were fights outside and dozens
arrested.
The Millwall chairman said the next day that their fans were superb and
that "You wouldnt find a better set of fans anywhere", I beg to
differ....
I am a season ticket holder at Ipswich and the after-match scenes
shocked me, the Millwall chairman claimed Ipswich fans provoked Millwall
into violence, bollocks!! We spent most of the game singing "going down
going down" to the Millwall in the Portman stand but thats part and
parcel of the game! Last season we got stuffed nine-nil at Man Utd but
we did`nt resort to aggro, after the final whistle last Sunday Ipswich
fans stayed to hear the final results, a nil-nil draw was`nt enough for
us to make the playoffs because Leicester won at Watford, but Portsmouth
beat Huddersfield to relegate Millwall, within seconds we were cheering
and seats were flying from the Millwall section near the North stand.
The police moved back and some Ipswich fans were leaving from the exit
of the North Stand near the Portman stand, from where I was I saw a lot
of seats flying and threats from the fans in the Portman, outside was
different, a corden of police with riot shields blocked the two sets of
fans, but a load got through and a mass brawl started in the street. I
got back to the car and my mate drove back to Felixstowe pretty damn
quickly, since the match was on Anglia I watched the ending with
Millwall chucking seats and it sickened me, the look on their faces was
one of pure hatred. Next day the local papers were full of it, shots of
Millwall chucking seats and news of Ipswich fans steaming into Millwall,
apparently 14 Town fans were nicked and five Millwall, but the Millwall
had smashed up the special train taking them back to London.
The point I am making is if Ipswich fans fought Millwall fans then it
must have been pure provocation because Ipswich fans have been known for
years as being friendly, anyone who was at Ipswich V Manchester United
on May 2nd 1994 will tell you so.
